KosmoCare Alternating Air Pressure Mattress and Pump (MM5) comprises of a 20 Nylon Tubular Cell Mattress with vents (inflated height 20 cms) and heavy-duty pump. It is also provided with tubing and 1 replaceable air cell tube.

Intended Use: This device is intended for elderly immobile and bed ridden patients with disabilities to reduce pressure points and prevention of bed sore or pressure sores over a bony prominence to reduce the likelihood of the patient's developing decubitus ulcers (bedsores).

Indication: The device provides relief from bed sores and pressure- ulcers caused by extended bedrest. The alternating pressure mattress which is intended to be placed on top of the bed mattress to actively change an occupants bed contact points, typically to relieve pressure points for comfort and to prevent pressure sores in elderly immobilized patients with disabilities.

Principle of Operation:  MM5 Tubular Mattress is of full body length is laid over the regular bed mattress. When connected to pump having 2 nozzle outlets through a tubing, it provides air flow to the cells of the of tubular mattress alternatingly redistributing pressure every 10-12 minutes. This means that no part of the patient’s body will be exposed to pressure the entire time, reducing the chances of developing bedsores. The device is intended to be used 24 x 7 continuously to give the alternating effect to the cells of the mattress. The mattress inflates upto 20 cms (8”) while in operation. The pump has features of Static mode (all air cells inflate and remain fully firm, giving the user a stable surface), Weight setting panel  and low pressure alarm. The tubular mattress is provided with pillow function (the top 3 cells do not alternate and remains firm) and also has CPR valve for quick deflation.

Air Ventilation: The tubular mattress of MM5 has vents (micro holes) which can via air loss, allow air to pass through and ventilate the patient’s back giving comfort and prevent bedsores.

The tubular mattress is made of durable nylon material with 0.35 mm thickness. It has a PU air breathable waterproof cover with zipper which is easy to clean. It can be laid on any regular mattress and supports up to 180 kgs.
